Ivy has survived a few near-death experiences - a car wreck, being attacked in her home, being drugged and almost jumping into the path of an oncoming train - but she is resilient and she is beginning to regain her faith in angels.  She is able to see Tristan’s golden glow and knows that he is protecting her, but she’s still not sure who is after her.  Is it Eric, the drug-taking crazy guy who plays violent “tricks” on others?  Is it Gregory, the over-protective step-brother who has romantic feelings toward Ivy?  Is it Andrew, the new stepfather who isn’t thrilled to have two new kids in his home?  Is it Will, the mysterious art student who seems to know more than he lets on?  Find out in this thrilling conclusion to this romantic suspense trilogy.

Cover image for Little brotherMarcus’s world is full of techno-secrets and gadgets.  He and his friends are out in the city of San Francisco playing a reality-based technology game when a terrorist attack destroys the city’s Bay Bridge.  Marcus and his friends hear announcements about taking shelter and head for the subway tunnels.  The crowds are so fierce that one of his friends is stabbed!  When trying to flag down help, Marcus is picked up by the Department of Homeland Security and tortured for being a suspected terrorist!  This all happens in the first 50 pages of the book!  Marcus’s techno-knowledge helps him to lead an underground, anonymous rebellion with the help an XBox and he tries to restore normalcy to his beloved home city.  (for mature readers)

Dark Waters by Catherine MacPhail (175 pages)

Cover image for Dark watersWhen thirteen-year-old Col finds out his older brother, Mungo, is in trouble with the law (again!), he helps him out by giving him an alibi.  Col always covers for Mungo and thinks it’s pretty funny when he gets away with things.  One day, Col is out by the loch and witnesses a young boy heading out onto the thin ice.  He thinks the boy is pretty dumb and decides to rob him while he’s out on the loch.  Then, the ice breaks and the boy falls through.  Without thinking, Col rushes over to help him, saving the boy’s life but nearly drowning himself.  Now, the town proclaims him a hero, but Col isn’t sure how to handle such positive attention for once.  Mungo doesn’t like it either, and when Col finds out Mungo’s dirty secret, he must decide whether family loyalty is more important than honesty.

He awakens the next morning and the only mark on him is a tiny blue dot on his hand. He begins to become chilled to the touch, almost as if the beast had infected him with a bonechilling disease. Danny isn’t the only one though - hundreds of teens have gone missing in his town over the years, meaning this creature has been around for thousands of years! What is it? Will Danny and his friends be able to stop it before it comes back for him?

Counterfeit Son by Elaine Marie Alphin (180 pages)

Cover image for Counterfeit sonCameron’s father is a serial killer.  He abducts young boys, takes them back to his home, locks Cameron in the basement, and kills the boys.  Do I have your attention?  This book certainly caught mine quite quickly.  From the start, Cameron’s father has been killed by the police and Cameron has decided that rather than being punished by the police for not helping any of the boys his father took, he will assume the identity of one of the boys: Neil Lacey.  Neil was abducted six years earlier when he was only 8, the same age as Cameron.  Neil’s family had given up hope that their son was still alive, but are thrilled when Cameron says he is Neil.  There are many similarities between Neil and Cameron, but one police officer is not convinced.  What will Cameron do to keep his secret safe - and what will he do when his murderer father’s friend comes looking for him?  Find out in this thriller!  (for mature audiences)

Hit and Run by Lurlene McDaniel (180 pages)

It strikes her, causing her to fly through the guardrail and onto the ground below.   The driver leaves the scene, convincing himself that he struck a deer, but he takes the time to cover the broken guardrail with branches.  The next day, Annalise is finally found.  She’s alive but has swelling in her brain and is in a coma.  This story is told from alternating perspectives – Annalise as she struggles to force her body awake, her boyfriend Jeremy as he holds on to the hope that Annalise will open her eyes, the culprit Quin as he worries about his future as a baseball star, and Laurie as she grapples with the knowledge that she was in the car that hit Annalise and she hasn’t revealed the truth.  This is a page-turner that will leave you desperate to resolve the crime against Annalise.
