The Penderwicks by Jeanne Birdsall (262 pages)

Cover image for The Penderwicks : a summer tal...Fun story. This book is about a family who loves being with each other. This book touched my heart because it was about three sisters and I have two older sisters. The story reminds you of all the people in the world that say they care and love you, but you  know the true people who always have unconditional love for you  are your family members.

Car Trouble by Jeanne DuPrau (274 pages)

Cover image for Car trouble : a novelDuff Pringle has never been the most popular kid, or the most sociable kid, but he has definitely been one of the smartest.  His obsession with and curiosity about computer technology has aided him in landing a high-paying job with a new computer company called Incredibility, Inc.  Despite his lack of a college education, his new boss likes Duff’s enthusiasm, intelligence, and creativity and hires him for a job in California .  The problem is that Duff lives in Virginia and has no way to get to California .  He decides to buy a $600 car that the mechanic assures him will make it cross-country, and drive to his destination.  With $300 in his pocket and a few hundred more in the bank, Duff begins his journey only to break down only three hours after leaving his home.  What to do?   Without spoiling the book for you, all I can say is… Duff picks up a hitchhiker, meets a con artist’s daughter and their car-sick terrier, gets robbed at a biker bar, is chased by two thugs, and falls in love.  This is quite a road-trip adventure!
